Holy Spirit Orchid

Posted by Viola Athaide in Our Culture

They clustered together

figures in green

bent in prayer

waiting for new birth.

Arms seemingly folded

faces a blank,

they leaned forward

reaching far beyond.

Green stems of hope

cradled the burning desire

to enter into

a Spring world.

God’s spirit

settled in silence on them

and the buds once closed

broke free.

The wings of a bird

opened wide

and smiled on all

with a white glow.

Light and life

entered gently,

and Pentecost glory

was born again.

Never heard of the Holy Spirit Orchid. Great to wake up to an introduction of such a magnificent plant and a poem to sing her praises. Thanks a lot!
